Balance is something everyone deals with on a daily basis. You need balance within work, life, relationships, school, social, etc. Without it, we lose control. I know if I don’t balance out my school work I get extremely overwhelmed. It’s even worse if my school work interferes with my social life.
Balance can be easy to achieve. Buy a planner or a notebook and plan out everything you have going on. Make lists and time schedules for each item. This may seem like a lot of work, but I promise it will help you create that balance.
When I am at school, I balance homework with my social life. What I mean by this is, my friends and I will hangout on campus & help each other do homework and or study. It’s a great way to balance out your social life with your school life. If we don’t have any work to do we just hangout. This semester, every Tuesday was my long day on campus so after our first class we would all get Dunkin coffee and find a place to do work and chill. We called it our “coffee Tuesdays.”
I make a space in my week of 30-60 minutes, 5 times a week for fitness. My schedule this semester was very flexible so I was able to workout almost every day. Even if I worked out from home, I made sure to make time during my day for it.
I had night class 2 times a week this semester and this is what a typical day would look like for me:
- 9:00am Wakeup
- 9:30am Workout
- 10:00am Breakfast
- 10:30am Shower
- 11:00am Chores (laundry, cleaning the kitchen, etc)
- 11:30am Watch any recorded shows or Netflix
- 12:00-2:00pm Do homework and study
- 2:30pm Lunch
- 3:00-5:00pm Continue homework & study or work on blog
- 5:30pm Dinner
- 5:50pm Leave for class
This may seem like so much, but I would be home all day until I left for class so I needed to balance out my tasks and keep myself busy. If I had no homework or studying to do this schedule would change a bit, but most of the time I would study anyway to review.
Balancing out my tasks and requirements have really helped me stay focused and be able to do everything in a timely and efficient matter. I highly recommend planning out and balancing your time between everything you need to do. It will really help you stay focused and not freak out.
