Welcome back to another Talks With Theresa Marie! This month is about Being Yourself. In this post, I’m going to be sharing why I think being yourself is important and why you should never be afraid to show who you truly are.
I think a lot of people actually struggle with being themselves. We all want to fit in. We all want to be like someone else. But, why when you can be yourself? I think ‘being yourself’ is the hardest for kids-teens. Every kid wants to be like the next, wants to have the best toys etc. I think many kids feel they need to act like everyone else in order to fit in, especially in school. If you’re ‘different’ you’re seen as weird. Which shouldn’t be the case. You’re not being ‘different’ you’re being yourself.
I personally love always staying true to myself. I feel so much better when I am me, and not someone pretending to be me. But, I am guilty. In the beginning of high school, I was definitely trying to be like everyone else. I always wanted to be popular, and be the best friend I could be. Which probably made me be a little fake at times. I thought who I was, was me, but it wasn’t. I didn’t know who I was until senior year and that’s okay, but now that I look back I wish I knew who I was from the beginning.
You always hear “be yourself and everyone will love you” but, sometimes that’s not how society works. It’s 50/50. Some will love you, some will judge you. That’s life. I say who cares, be yourself anyway. Let them judge you. If you’re really passionate about something then be passionate about it openly. Stop worrying about everyone else and what they think of you. Just be yourself and you’ll be okay.
Don’t be afraid to show who you really are. Yes, you might lose friends and/or be judged, but that doesn’t matter. In the end, you really only have yourself anyway so you might as well know who you are and being that person.
Well my little rant is over lol. I hope you enjoyed this Talks With Theresa Marie. Stay tuned for another one at the end of September.
